Numerous insiders have reported on the upcoming Xbox Showcase scheduled for June, disclosing some of the games that will be featured.

As 2024 progresses, the season traditionally reserved for gaming announcements is swiftly approaching. Recent rumors suggest Microsoft’s major 2024 showcase will feature some major titles. Tom Warren of The Verge, who is a well-known Microsoft reporter, indicates that the Xbox Games Showcase is scheduled for Sunday, June 9, aligning with historical patterns. The showcase is expected to reveal Gears 6, along with new content and release dates for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Avowed, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

Warren also suggests that the upcoming Call of Duty installment will be revealed at the Xbox event, which is a departure from Activision’s traditional standalone summer announcements. This change is likely due to Microsoft’s acquisition of the franchise.

Following Warren’s report, Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson corroborated on the plan to feature this year’s Call of Duty at the event, but the game is currently set to be revealed prior to the showcase in a more “traditional fashion” and outside of Warzone. Previous installments have been first revealed in a live event set in Call of Duty’s battle royale game, but Henderson suggests that won’t be the case this year.

Xbox Showcase Aims High

The showcase’s full lineup still remains speculative, but Jez Corden of Windows Central hints at a possible reveal of State of Decay 3. Previously he mentioned that he was aware of certain games slated for the showcase and expressed surprise at the progress of some titles that seemed to be further away. Corden was uncertain about specific games showing up so he didn’t share any names.

Henderson and Corden also report on Microsoft gearing up for an announcement of more Activision/Blizzard games on Game Pass, Corden specifically saying it’s sooner than expected.

After the 2023 showcase last June, Head of Xbox Game Studios at that time and now President of Game Content and Studios Matt Booty revealed Perfect Dark together with State of Decay 3 is on track for deep-dive and gameplay reveal in the next 18 months, suggesting we could finally see them at the next showcase.

It is expected Microsoft will also set a date for other 2024 releases including Towerborne, ARA: History Untold and Age of Mythology: Retold. Perhaps we get updates on longstanding projects such as Perfect Dark, Everwild, The Outer Worlds 2 and Contraband. Last year we had a first look at Fable and announcements for South of Midnight and Clockwork Revolution, so it is expected we will have another look at them.

The Xbox summer showcase is already shaping up to be an impressive event if not the most impressive one yet.
