Rockstar Games could be gearing up for a Red Dead Redemption PC port announcement, suggests Rockstar’s launcher site file.
It seems like Rockstar has updated their launcher site files today and Rockstar Games dataminer TezFunz2 has found the new information within the files. There’s a mention of first Red Dead Redemption being playable on PC with its zombie DLC, Undead Nightmare.
“Journey across the sprawling expanses of the American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption, and its zombie-horror companion, Undead Nightmare, now playable on PC. Experience the epic western adventures that defined a generation.”
TezFunz2 says these are the same marketing strings that are being used for promoting Grand Theft Auto 5.
Nothing is official yet, as Rockstar has not announced the port. This is the closest indication of a PC release we’ve seen, stemming from Rockstar’s launcher files, but take it with a grain of salt. If the release is forthcoming, Rockstar’s announcement could be imminent. It’s likely to include the zombie-themed Undead Nightmare DLC, which was also well-received. It remains to be seen if it will be available on Steam or other platforms besides the Rockstar Launcher. Initially, Rockstar launched the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy – The Definitive Edition exclusively on their launcher for PC, but it eventually arrived on Steam after just over a year.
Red Dead Redemption, originally released in May 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, was hailed as one of the best games of its generation. In August of last year, it was ported to the Nintendo Switch and received a native PlayStation 4 version. Although there were speculations that Rockstar was developing a remaster for PC and current-generation consoles, these turned out to be only Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 ports.
