According to a credible insider, God of War Ragnarok will be the next PlayStation exclusive to be announced for PC very soon.
Dealabs’s billbil-kun has reported that Santa Monica Studios’ God of War Ragnarok is expected to arrive on PC. The announcement of the port is anticipated to occur this month, although the release date remains unknown for them. Previously, billbil-kun was credited with revealing the Horizon Forbidden West PC port.
God of War Ragnarok was released on November 9, 2022, so the anticipation of a PC port makes sense. In an October 2022 interview with Julien Chieze, PlayStation Studios head Herman Hulst mentioned that PlayStation games on PC would typically have at least a year’s gap between releases, with live-service games being a potential exception. Helldivers 2 was simultaneously released on PlayStation 5 and PC earlier this year, and Horizon Forbidden West arrived on PC two years after its initial launch on PlayStation 5. Additionally, Sony announced the PC version of Ghost of Tsushima three months ago, set to release on May 16th. Ghost of Tsushima has had the second longest duration for a PlayStation game to transition to PC, originally launching in July 2020. That record belongs to God of War which took nearly four years to be ported over.
If God of War Ragnarok is announced in May, it might release earlier than November since Sony typically announces ports 3-4 months prior to their release. This could allow space for another title launch later in the year; however, Concord remains on track for a 2024 release. Sony has launched Helldivers 2 on February 8, followed by Horizon Forbidden West in March 21 and Ghost of Tsushima coming May 16, indicating that anything is possible.
Reputable journalist and insider Jeff Grubb previously mentioned there will be a PlayStation event in May, possibly a showcase or state of play. He has recently reaffirmed that the showcase will occur this month. Typically, Sony does not announce PC ports at their events, unless accompanying a new game announcement or a new version of a game. We will soon discover if that will change.
