Following the sale of Gearbox Software to Take-Two, Embracer retained Gearbox Publishing San Francisco and rebrands it to Arc Games.

A few weeks ago, Embracer Group divested Gearbox Entertainment to Take-Two Interactive for $460 million, aiding in the completion of their extensive restructuring plan. Embracer retained several games and assets formerly managed by Gearbox Publishing San Francisco. Recently, Embracer announced that this division has been rebranded with a new name.

Arc Games was originally founded in 2008 as Perfect World Entertainment. It was formed as Perfect World’s North American subsidiary. In 2021 it was sold to Embracer Group and placed under Gearbox to act as Gearbox’s publishing arm.

Company’s new name most likely originates from Arc Launcher, a platform Perfect World Entertainment used to publish titles.

Future Of Arc Games

Arc Games shared the following statement:

“We’re very excited to announce that we are now Arc Games! We’re the same team of passionate gamers that brought you many beloved franchises including the Remnant series, Have a Nice Death, Star Trek Online and Neverwinter. And we can’t wait to bring you even more exciting titles like Gigantic: Rampage Edition, Hyper Light Breaker, and more soon-to-be announced games for 2025 and beyond!”

They also remind us to check out Triple-i Initiative Showcase on April 10 for a new Hyper Light Breaker trailer.

Arc retains the publishing rights for Remnant series, Have a Nice Death, Torchlight series, Hob, Livelock and UFO: Unidentified Falling Objects.

Ben Cureton, Principal Designer at Gunfire Games, posted a statement regarding their publisher, saying it doesn’t affect them and it’s still the same publishing team since Remnant: From the Ashes.

Arc’s next publishing title, Gigantic: Rampage Edition, launches tomorrow, followed by Hyper Light Breaker later this summer.
